In this article

JM Bullion is a Dallas-based online gold and silver dealer owned by Gold.com, Inc., a public company. This review covers its premiums, ordering and shipping, storage, and the 2026 data breach. It also covers what it costs to cancel, return, or sell back, using prices Tweed read on October 25, 2026.

What is JM Bullion?

JM Bullion is an online precious metals dealer that sells gold, silver, platinum, palladium, and copper coins and bars, with about 8,000 products a year. Gold.com, Inc. (NYSE: GOLD), called A-Mark Precious Metals until December 2025, first invested in JM Bullion in 2014 and bought the rest of it in 2021.2 JM Bullion still sells under its own name.

Its head office and contact center are in Dallas, and orders ship from a fulfillment center inside the Las Vegas airport. JM Bullion sells only to US residents and doesn't ship outside the US.

Who is JM Bullion for?

JM Bullion is for you if you live in the US and want common gold and silver coins and bars shipped fast. It also suits you if you want to know the buyback price first.

Many product pages show a buyback price next to the buy price, which helps most if you plan to sell one day. You save about 4% if you pay by check, ACH, or wire, and JM Bullion also takes Klarna, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and crypto. If you'd rather not keep metal at home, you can store it with the dealer.

It fits less well if you want a rare coin it doesn't list, or more than a few days to decide on a return.

JM Bullion pros and cons

JM Bullion's pros are posted buyback prices, no flat fee to cancel, fast shipping, and a public parent company. It has five cons: a short return window, return shipping you pay, a higher price by card, US-only sales, and a 2026 data breach.

JM Bullion pros

Buyback prices on product pages

Many product pages show a "Sell To Us" price, so you can see your round-trip cost before you buy.

No flat fee to cancel

JM Bullion won't cancel a confirmed order. Before it ships, you can sell it back at the current price and pay only any market loss.3

Ships within 1 business day

JM Bullion says it ships within 1 business day of cleared payment, and many orders go out the same day.

A public parent company

Gold.com files annual reports with the SEC, so JM Bullion's owner, size, and main risks are on public record. Tenurable's free class shows how to find any company filing on EDGAR.

JM Bullion cons

Five business days to return

You have 5 business days from delivery to start a return, and any market loss comes out of your refund.

You pay return shipping

Return shipping is on you, and the original shipping charge isn't refunded.

About 4% more by card or PayPal

Check, ACH, and wire prices are about 4% lower, so a card added $176.07 to one Gold Eagle.

US buyers only

JM Bullion sells only to US residents and ships only to US addresses.

A 2026 data breach

JM Bullion notified customers on October 13, 2026, that someone had accessed its network from April 12 to 14, 2026. It filed its notice with the California Attorney General.

How buying from JM Bullion works

Buying from JM Bullion is like shopping at any online store, but the price moves with the metal until you check out. Some payments must arrive within days.

Ordering and paying

Your price locks when you check out. Card, PayPal, check, ACH, and crypto have no minimum. A bank wire needs $500 or more, and Klarna covers orders from $35 to $30,000.

PaymentOrder limitBefore it ships
Card or PayPal$250,000Card price, about 4% higher
Check or ACH$100,0003 to 5 business days to clear
Bank wire$1,000,000Must arrive within 1 business day of the order

Crypto gets 3% off the card price instead of 4%.

Shipping and delivery

Shipping is free on orders of $199 or more, and JM Bullion sends them by USPS or UPS in plain packaging. JM Bullion insures packages until delivery, and orders over $1,000 need a signature. Report damage or missing items within 48 hours of delivery.

Storage and IRAs

JM Bullion stores metal through TDS Vaults, a Gold.com company. Bullion costs 0.50% in Dallas, Las Vegas, Singapore, or Toronto and 0.80% in Zurich, and collectible coins cost 0.90%.

A $50 handling fee applies each time metal goes in or out ($100 in Zurich). The page doesn't say how often JM Bullion charges the percentage, so ask before you store.

For an IRA, JM Bullion works with self-directed IRA custodians, and the metal goes to a depository such as First State Depository. Under 26 U.S.C. 408(m), a traditional IRA can hold only certain coins and bullion, held by a trustee. Gold IRA vs gold ETF covers that rule.

How much does JM Bullion cost?

JM Bullion's cost is the premium over the spot price built into each product, plus about 4% more if you pay by card or PayPal. A premium, or markup, is the price minus the dealer's own spot price.

Premiums over spot

Premiums ran from about 2.5% on a gold bar on sale to about 29% on a silver coin.

The bar was on sale at half its usual premium, so the cheapest dealer for a bar can change week to week. APMEX's Gold Eagle was $8.78 more by check at the same time, and the gap between the two dealers moves daily. APMEX vs JM Bullion compares the same three products at both.

Taxes when you sell

The IRS taxes long-term gains on collectibles, which include gold and silver coins and bars, at up to 28%.4 It taxes short-term gains as ordinary income. Check your own situation with a tax professional before you sell.

How much does it cost to leave JM Bullion?

Leaving JM Bullion costs the gap between its buy price and its Sell To Us price. You also pay any market loss if you cancel or return, and a handling fee to take metal out of storage.

Selling back to JM Bullion

JM Bullion buys gold and silver back through its Sell To Us program, with a $1,000 minimum.5 You can lock a price online at any hour, then ship within 3 business days of locking it. JM Bullion pays 3 to 7 business days after your metal arrives and passes inspection.

Here's what buying and selling back the same day looked like.

JM Bullion can send you an insured shipping label, and its terms say the actual shipping and insurance cost comes out of your payment. Once you lock a price, it's guaranteed both ways. If you back out and the market has moved against JM Bullion, it charges the market loss to the card on file.

Returns and canceling

Canceling works as a sale back to JM Bullion before the order ships. You pay any market loss, JM Bullion keeps any gain, and it charges $25 if it has to pull a packed order.

Returns must start within 5 business days of delivery, with the metal in its original condition. The refund is your price minus the original shipping and any market loss, and you pay to ship it back. Treat an order as final once you pay.

Taking metal out of storage

Taking metal out of storage costs the $50 handling fee ($100 in Zurich), and JM Bullion says it typically takes up to a week. Leaving a JM Bullion-linked IRA means moving it to another custodian or taking a distribution, and you may owe tax on a distribution.

Disputes go to individual arbitration under JM Bullion's terms, which include a way to opt out.

Is JM Bullion worth it in 2026?

JM Bullion is worth it in 2026 if you want common bullion shipped fast from a large, publicly owned dealer. Its common-coin premiums were close to APMEX's on the day Tweed checked.

Its posted buyback price is its biggest strength, and it shows how large the round trip can be. A Silver Eagle's round trip was about a quarter of its price. Every dealer earns a spread like this, and JM Bullion's is easier to compare, not smaller.

Consider JM Bullion if you want common bullion fast and want to know the buyback price first. It's a weaker fit if you need more time to return or want a rare item it doesn't carry. It also doesn't fit if you live outside the US or would rather hold gold in a brokerage account.

JM Bullion vs the alternatives

Your choice comes down to what you want to own. You can buy coins from a dealer, a gold fund in a brokerage account, or gold held for you in an app.

JM Bullion vs APMEX

JM Bullion vs APMEX is close on price, so neither is cheaper as a rule. APMEX has the bigger catalog and 7 days to return, and JM Bullion posts buyback prices and has no flat cancel fee. See APMEX vs JM Bullion for prices side by side and our APMEX review for its fees and rules.

JM Bullion vs a gold ETF

JM Bullion vs a gold ETF is a choice between metal you hold and a fund you trade. A gold ETF has no shipping, storage, or dealer spread, but you never hold the metal. GLD vs IAU vs GLDM compares the largest gold funds, and the best brokerage accounts let you buy them.

JM Bullion vs Vaulted

JM Bullion vs Vaulted comes down to delivery. JM Bullion ships coins and bars to your door, and Vaulted is an app that holds gold for you at the Royal Canadian Mint. Our Vaulted review covers how it works.
